Spain hotel overnight stays rise 0.3% in July driven by foreign tourists
In July, hotel overnight stays in Spain saw a modest increase of 0.3%, reaching 44.8 million. This growth was driven exclusively by a 1.1% rise in international tourists, which offset a 1.1% decline in stays by Spanish residents.
Hotel prices in Spain rose by 5.9% compared to July of the previous year, marking the highest increase since April 2025. This trend continues a 50-month streak of year-on-year price hikes. In Andalusia, average daily rates reached a record high for July at 164.56 euros, with Málaga exceeding 200 euros per room.
Regional trends varied significantly. The Balearic Islands remained a top destination for international visitors, accounting for 33.4% of their stays, despite a 1.8% decline in total overnight stays there. In the Canary Islands, overnight stays fell by 0.3%, though business revenue increased by 5.8% due to higher rates. The Valencian Community saw a 4.3% increase in overnight stays and recorded the highest price hike in the country at 9.8%. Conversely, Castilla y León experienced a 7.6% drop in overnight stays.
