Spain implements emergency repairs for water treatment plants after storm damage
The Generalitat has launched an emergency plan to repair 29 water treatment plants and sanitation networks damaged by storm Adam in the La Safor and La Marina Alta regions. Initial damage estimates are approximately 2.5 million euros, with 2 million euros in the province of Valencia and 500,000 euros in Alicante.
A task force of 106 personnel, including technical experts and specialized repair companies, has been deployed to address electrical, electromechanical, and cleaning needs. The Generalitat is directly intervening in plants under its ownership and has pledged to support municipalities that cannot afford the reconstruction costs alone.
Separately, in Seville, local authorities are preparing for the upcoming rainy season following record-breaking rainfall in late 2025. Emasesa has executed over 3,400 preventive actions and is investing 42 million euros to increase urban drainage capacity, utilizing storm tanks in areas such as Alameda de Hércules and Kansas City to mitigate flood risks.
