Spain invests in major housing and cultural redevelopment projects in Catalonia and Palma

The Association of Promoters of Catalonia (APCE), together with the Ametlla de Mar municipality and CaixaBank, organised a real‑estate session to address housing shortages in the Terres de l’Ebre region. The forum highlighted the need to double the current construction rate of new homes and proposed public‑private cooperation to boost the supply of residential units across Catalonia.

In Palma, the city council approved a €76.5 million plan to renovate the historic Gesa building and its waterfront surroundings. Designed by Cruz y Ortiz, the project will create a new public library, cultural venues, a Centre for Energy Interpretation, citizen service offices, parking, covered public spaces and green areas, aiming to revitalize a long‑abandoned landmark and enhance urban life on the seafront.
