Spain issues limited‑edition coin to mark 2026 World Cup win

Spain’s national mint, the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre, has produced a 5‑euro silver collector’s coin to commemorate the men’s national team’s second FIFA World Cup title, won at the 2026 tournament hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The coin, limited to 50,000 pieces, features a portrait of King Felipe VI on the obverse and the FIFA 2026 logo with the legend “Champions of the World” on the reverse. It is sold at a price of about €60.33 (excluding VAT), far above its face value, and is intended for collectors rather than circulation.

The issuance follows previous commemorative issues for Spain’s 2023 women’s World Cup triumph and the Euro 2024 victory, underscoring the importance the state places on football success as a symbol of national pride and international recognition.
