Spain issues Listeria alert for Capdevila duck foie gras pâté
The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a food safety alert after detecting Listeria monocytogenes in a specific batch of Capdevila’s Bloc foie gras de pato Mi‑Cuit pâté. The affected product is a 40‑gram refrigerated pack (lot L26029311821) with a best‑before date of 29 January 2027, produced in Bulgaria. The alert was communicated through the rapid information‑exchange system (SCIRI) to regional authorities, who are to withdraw the contaminated units from stores.
Consumers are advised to check the label for the brand, product name, lot number and expiry date, and to discard any matching items without consuming them. People who have already eaten the product and experience symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea or fever should seek medical attention. Particular caution is urged for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals, who are at higher risk of severe listeriosis.
