Spain issues Listeria alert for De mi Tierra fresh cheeses

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) issued a general food‑safety alert after Listeria monocytogenes was detected in several fresh Latin‑style cheeses produced in Galicia under the De mi Tierra brand. Affected products include queso Costeño, queso amarillo, hard fresh cheese and semi‑hard fresh cheese, each identified by specific batch numbers and expiration dates.

The initial distribution covered the autonomous communities of Galicia, Aragon, Madrid and Andalusia, with the possibility of further redistribution to other regions. The contaminated cheeses have been withdrawn from sale; consumers are advised not to eat any product from the listed batches, to return them to the point of purchase for a refund, and to seek medical attention if they develop symptoms such as fever, diarrhea or vomiting, especially if they belong to high‑risk groups (pregnant women, newborns, the elderly or immunocompromised). No cases of listeriosis have been reported so far.
