Spain issues Listeria alert for La Mar de Tapas cod in oil
The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) issued a health alert after the Andalusian authorities detected Listeria monocytogenes in Bacalao Natura in sunflower oil, marketed under the La Mar de Tapas brand. The alert concerns all batches whose codes begin with 0532 and that carry expiration dates between 10 July and 30 July 2026. Consumers are instructed to check the packaging, avoid consuming the product, and dispose of any affected packs.
AESAN advises anyone who has eaten the contaminated cod to watch for listeriosis symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, fever or muscle aches, and to seek medical attention promptly, especially vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, the elderly, children and immunocompromised persons. Authorities are coordinating the rapid removal of the product from retail shelves.
