Spain launches Basque cybersecurity hub and Valencian biotech initiative

Cybergune, a new virtual community for cybersecurity, has been created in the Basque Country (Euskadi). Developed by the industry association Cybasque in collaboration with SPRI, the platform offers free online courses, a security rating system, public resources, specialized forums, information on grants and a directory of regional firms. It is part of the RETECH territorial‑specialisation network and is financed with Next Generation EU funds, aiming to become the digital meeting point for all cybersecurity actors in the region.

The Impulso project, concluded in June 2026, turned agro‑food waste such as avocado, tomato and grape residues into high‑value bioactive compounds for cosmetics and detergents. Funded by Ivace+i, FEDER and the Generalitat Valenciana, the consortium led by the technological centre Itene developed sustainable extraction, stabilization and formulation processes. The initiative demonstrates a circular‑economy pathway that links agriculture, waste management and industrial biotechnology, delivering functional ingredients for the cosmetic and detergent sectors.
