Spain launches major heritage restoration projects in Seville and Almería

The municipal council of Lora de Estepa, with technical support from the Diputación de Sevilla, has begun an ambitious restoration of the 17th‑century Casa Palacio of Juan de Córdoba y Centurión. Funded through the PFEA‑PEE‑2025 programme, the scheme will preserve the historic fabric and convert the building into a multifunctional sociocultural venue for the local community.

In the Parque Natural Cabo de Gata‑Níjar, the Diputación de Almería announced a comprehensive plan to revive the Cortijo del Fraile, the site that inspired Federico García Lorca’s "Bodas de Sangre." President José Antonio García Alcaina described the project as the most important heritage recovery in the institution’s two‑century history. The plan will transform the ruin into a permanent Centre of Arts and Territory, adding pedestrian‑only zones, underground visitor facilities, and new spaces for theatre, music, cinema, gastronomy and traditional crafts while preserving the building’s historic silhouette.
