Spain launches $SPAIN fan token ahead of 2026 World Cup Group H
The Royal Spanish Football Association partnered with digital‑asset platform Socios.com to issue the $SPAIN fan token on 16 June 2026, ten days before Spain’s Group H match against Uruguay in the 2026 World Cup. Holders can vote on team‑related decisions, access exclusive rewards, and collect NFTs.
The token was sold initially on 19 June, priced at about $1 (≈ 0.88 €). Within 24 hours the market price fell to roughly €0.52, a 40 % drop, reflecting a broader bearish crypto environment. The project, run jointly by the Spanish federation and U.S. firm Fan Token Management, authorises the issuance of up to three million tokens, potentially raising close to €3 million if all are sold.
This is the federation’s second fan‑token effort; a 2021 partnership with Turkish firm Bitci ended in financial disputes. The new token aims to deepen fan engagement rather than serve as a speculative asset, but its early price slide shows the challenge of launching digital assets amid a weak cryptocurrency market.
