Spain launches summer blood‑donation campaigns across regions
The Axencia de Doazón de Órganos e Sangue (ADOS) will operate a mobile blood‑donation unit in A Guarda on Wednesday, 29 July 2024. Working under the slogan “Un alento de vida”, the unit will be stationed in front of the Centro Cultural on Rosalía de Castro, accepting donors from 10:15‑14:00 and 16:30‑21:00. ADOS urges participation because summer holidays often reduce blood reserves while hospital needs remain constant.
The Servicio Canario de la Salud has issued an urgent appeal for donors with blood type O‑ across the Canary Islands, especially La Palma, where the universal donor is critical for emergencies. Fixed donation points on the island are open Monday‑Thursday 10:00‑20:00, Friday 10:00‑15:00, Saturday 10:00‑17:00 and Sunday 13:00‑20:00, with a call for donors to give at least twice a year.
In Sevilla, the municipal transport company Tussam, together with the regional health authority, launched a summer awareness campaign titled “Tussam se mueve contigo para salvar vidas #Donasangre”. Buses, social‑media channels and a dedicated app will display the message, reminding residents that a single donation can save up to three lives and that blood supplies typically dip during the warm months.
