Spain launches unified information hub to speed fiber and 5G rollout
The Spanish government is establishing a single information point that will give telecom operators real‑time access to data on public works and infrastructure projects. The system is intended to cut installation times, lower costs and bring fiber broadband to more households faster by allowing operators to coordinate deployments with existing civil works.
At the same time, Cellnex Telecom, Europe’s leading independent wireless‑infrastructure operator, is rolling out its IRIS digital‑twin platform. IRIS creates live 3‑D replicas of towers and sites, using IoT sensors and edge computing to plan upgrades, optimise energy use and reduce field visits. The technology supports the broader push for 5G and hyper‑connectivity across Spain and Europe.
