Spain mobilizes 2.69 billion euros in PAC agricultural subsidies
The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, through the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), has mobilized 2,691 million euros to allow autonomous communities to advance Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) subsidies to farmers and ranchers.
Following recent European Union regulatory changes, the maximum advance amount has been increased to 75% of the total aid to provide liquidity to the sector. This measure aims to mitigate the impact of rising fertilizer costs and other agricultural inputs driven by international market volatility and conflicts in the Middle East.
While the transfer of funds to regional paying agencies is centralized, the actual disbursement to farmers is voluntary and managed by each autonomous community. Significant allocations include 779 million euros for Andalusia, 638.6 million for Castilla y León, and 445.6 million for Castilla-La Mancha. In Navarra, 63.3 million euros have already been distributed to over 8,400 professionals.
Payments include the Basic Income for Sustainability (ABRS), redistributive payments, and eco-schemes. Delays in receiving funds may occur due to administrative issues, such as monitoring problems, duplications, or pending rights transfers.
