Spain motorcycle insurance market evolves amid rising vehicle numbers
The Spanish motorcycle insurance market is undergoing a transformation driven by a sustained increase in motorcycle ownership. According to the II Ranking of Companies with the Best Motorcycle Insurance 2026, prepared by Strategik B&F Consulting, consumer valuation is shifting beyond mere price to include factors such as coverage, added services, specialization, customer service, and reputation.
Data from the Directorate General of Traffic shows that Spain ended 2025 with 4,510,222 motorcycles, with 248,514 new registrations. Sales grew by 6.9% in 2025, and the trend accelerated in the first quarter of 2026, with registrations increasing by 26.6% to 63,537 units. Catalonia, Andalusia, and the Valencian Community represent the regions with the highest concentration of motorcycles.
The ranking evaluates insurance companies and brokerages based on the customer journey, including information searching, contracting, and policy management. Key evaluation criteria include specialization in the two-wheel sector, agreements with manufacturers and dealers, and the availability of complementary guarantees. The report also notes that only half of the analyzed entities currently engage in road safety initiatives or community support.
