Spain names athletes for the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham

The Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) announced a 94‑member squad for the European Athletics Championships, to be held in Birmingham from 10 to 16 August. Seven athletes from Galicia will compete, including Olympic marathon runner Esther Navarrete, heptathlete Belén Toimil, and race‑walkers Antía Chamosa, Aldara Meilán and Dani Chamosa.

Middle‑distance runner María Forero of Huelva secured a place in the 5,000‑metre race through her European ranking, marking her second appearance at a senior European outdoor championship after debuting in Rome 2024. Forero joins national champions Marta García and Idaira Prieto in a field that features the reigning European champion Nadia Battocletti and other top European competitors.
