Spain offers up to 21,400 euros for energy-efficient housing reforms
Under the neighborhood rehabilitation program within the Recovery Plan, homeowners in designated areas can access subsidies of up to 21,400 euros for housing renovations. To qualify for the maximum amount, works must achieve at least a 60% reduction in non-renewable primary energy consumption.
The subsidy covers up to 80% of the eligible costs, with the owner responsible for the remainder. Eligible improvements include upgrading kitchens, bathrooms, windows, or insulation, provided the project contributes to the building's overall energy efficiency.
Applicants must meet three main criteria: providing an energy certification comparing the property before and after works, ensuring the home is located in a recognized neighborhood rehabilitation zone, and submitting a formal project or budget. While the general deadline for completing works was June 30, 2026, recent modifications allow for exceptional extensions, which are managed by individual autonomous communities.
