Spain's Auto+ program offers up to €4,500 for electric cars

The Spanish government has launched the Auto+ programme, a €400 million incentive scheme that replaces the former Plan MOVES. It provides subsidies of up to €4,500 for private buyers of fully electric vehicles (up to €6,000 for self‑employed and SMEs) that meet three criteria – a DGT “CERO” label, a price ceiling of €45,000 before tax, and European manufacturing of the vehicle and its battery.

Applications opened on 4 August 2026 through an online portal and will remain open until 31 December 2026, or until the allocated budget is exhausted. The first line of aid, the “Lista Blanca”, lists models that qualify for the maximum amount, including the newly added Lexus RZ 350e, which became the latest vehicle to enter the programme.

Regional dealers, such as those in the Basque Country, have urged the regional government to maintain its own complementary aid scheme while awaiting further European support. The programme also makes the cheapest electric cars – for example the Fiat Grande Panda and Fiat 500e – eligible for the highest subsidies, highlighting the government's push to accelerate the decarbonisation of Spain’s vehicle fleet.
