Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia and Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares held a telephone conversation on August 9 to discuss bilateral cooperation and opportunities for partnership. Spanish humanitarian aid included 1 million euros for the Red Cross emergency appeal, 300,000 euros worth of essential supplies sent from the Colombian border, and an additional 500,000 euros coordinated through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and various autonomous communities.
