Spain police crack down on drug‑related gangs in Tarragona and Zaragoza

Spanish prosecutors have sought four‑year prison sentences for ten members of a criminal group accused of cultivating large quantities of marijuana in two warehouses in Tarragona and Vila‑seca and defrauding electricity supplies. The operation, uncovered in 2020, involved more than 1,500 plants weighing about 1,440 kg and resulted in seizures of hundreds of thousands of euros’ worth of cannabis and a €50,000 electricity fraud. The court will also consider fines and possible expulsion orders for some defendants.

In a separate case, the National Police in Zaragoza arrested twelve individuals linked to the Dominican street gang “Don’t Play”. Authorities charged them with belonging to a criminal organization, drug trafficking, illegal weapons possession, property crimes and electricity fraud. The police seized firearms, simulated weapons, drugs, precision scales and electronic devices. Seven of the detainees were ordered into pre‑trial detention, and the investigation remains ongoing.
