Spain: PSOE finalizes candidate lists for November 29 general elections
The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) is finalizing its candidate lists for the general elections scheduled for November 29. In Madrid, Pedro Sánchez has designated Margarita Robles as the second candidate on the list, with Félix Bolaños in third and Fernando Grande-Marlaska in fifth.
In other provinces, the party has confirmed several key leadership roles: Isabel Rodríguez will lead the list for Ciudad Real, while Pedro Fernández and María José Sánchez will head the lists for Granada. In Toledo, Milagros Tolón and José Manuel Tofiño will lead the Congress and Senate lists, respectively. In Lugo, Patricia Otero Rodríguez and César Mogo Zaro have been named as the primary candidates for the Congress and Senate.
Internal tensions have emerged in Guadalajara, where the federal leadership is considering replacing the provincially approved candidate Rafael Esteban with Daniel Jiménez. Similarly, in Albacete, the party is evaluating a change involving Emilio Sáez and Amparo Torres.
On a national level, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has indicated that a joint left-wing coalition for the Senate remains a possibility as the deadline for registering electoral coalitions approaches. Meanwhile, the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) reports the PSOE at 34.2%, leading the People's Party (PP) by 11.8 points.
