Spain prepares for solar eclipse and Perseids meteor shower

Spain is set to experience a series of significant astronomical events on August 12 and 13. A solar eclipse will be visible across various parts of the country, with Alcoi expected to see a maximum obscuration of 99.4% at approximately 20:34.

Following the eclipse, the Perseids meteor shower will reach its peak activity between 4:00 and 6:00 AM on the morning of August 13. According to the National Geographic Institute (IGN), observation conditions are particularly favorable this year because a new moon will leave the night sky dark, facilitating better visibility of the meteors.

In the Ebro Delta, large crowds have gathered at the Trabucador bar to secure vantage points for the eclipse, with many visitors arriving early to wait for the event.
