Spain projected to become world's most visited country by 2040

While the tourism boom provides economic benefits, it has also triggered concerns regarding overtourism in Spain. In response, local authorities are implementing various measures: Barcelona aims to phase out short-term tourist apartments by 2028, and the Balearic Islands have introduced stricter regulations on alcohol consumption and party boats to mitigate the impact on local residents and resources.
