Spain projected to see 28,697 new hematological cancer cases in 2027
The Spanish Society of Hematology and Hemotherapy (SEHH), in collaboration with the Spanish Network of Cancer Registries (REDECAN), has released a report projecting cancer trends in Spain through 2027.
According to the report, approximately 28,697 new cases of hematological cancer—primarily including leukemias, lymphomas, and multiple myeloma—are expected to be diagnosed in 2027. These cases will account for roughly 10% of all new cancer diagnoses in the country, maintaining hematological cancer as the fifth most frequent cancer group, following breast, lung, prostate, and colon cancers.
The current five-year survival rate for hematological neoplasms is reported at 63%, with higher survival rates observed in women and younger populations. Experts utilized incidence data from the 2010-2019 period to generate these projections.
