Spain ranks lowest in entrepreneurship satisfaction, Stripe survey finds

A survey by the payment company Stripe reveals that only 25% of founders who established companies in Spain would choose to do so again. This figure is significantly lower than in other regions, such as the United States (85%), Sweden (47%), and France (33%).

Spain also ranked lowest regarding interactions with the administration, scoring 3.3 out of 10, compared to the European average of 5.4. While recent legislation like the Startup Law and the Crea y Crece Law have simplified the initial process of forming a company, founders report that the primary difficulties lie in ongoing operations.

Key obstacles cited by European founders include taxes and payroll (68%), notaries and registries (44%), hiring and dismissal regulations (38%), and administrative slowness (27%). Additionally, the cost of restructuring a workforce in Spain is reported at 62 months of salary per employee, the highest on Stripe's list.
