Spain reaches World Cup semifinals after draw with Belgium
The Spanish national field hockey team, known as the RedSticks, has qualified for the World Cup semifinals for the first time in twenty years. Following a 1-1 draw against Belgium, Spain secured their place in the final four.
In a challenging match, Belgium took an early lead in the third minute through Victor Foubert. Despite the initial setback, Spain maintained resilience and scored a crucial equalizer via Marc Miralles in the final quarter. The match was marked by a controversial moment when a video umpire did not intervene to annul a Belgian goal that appeared to be a high shot.
Spain is scheduled to play its semifinal match in Amstelveen, Netherlands, on Friday, the 28th. The opponent will be determined following the results of the other quarterfinal matches.
