La Mar de Tapas Bacalao Natura recalled in Spain over Listeria contamination
The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) issued a food safety alert after Andalusian health authorities reported the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in several batches of Bacalao Natura in sunflower oil, marketed under the La Mar de Tapas brand. The affected product is a 130 g refrigerated portion of sliced cod, with lot numbers beginning 0532 and expiry dates between 10 July and 30 July 2026.
AESAN advises consumers who have the product at home not to eat it and to discard it. Anyone who has consumed the product and experiences symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea or fever should seek medical attention. The agency highlights that pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and immunocompromised persons are particularly at risk of severe listeriosis. The contaminated batches are being withdrawn from supermarkets across Spain, and the alert has been shared with regional authorities through the SCIRI rapid‑information system.
