Spain regional investment rises 21% in first half of year

Spanish regional investment increased by 21% during the first half of the year, exceeding 7 billion euros, according to a budget execution report from the Ministry of Finance. This acceleration occurs during the final year of the European recovery plan, which was established in 2021 to stimulate economic reactivation following the COVID-19 pandemic.

While capital operations have grown, the report also highlights a significant rise in financial costs. Interest payments have reached approximately 3 billion euros, representing a 20% increase compared to the previous year, driven by efforts to counter inflation.

Member states must submit their final payment requests to the European Commission by the end of September, with the deadline for the Commission to release funds set for December.
