Spain rejects 2030 World Cup withdrawal amid final venue debate

Rafael Lozano, president of the Spanish Football Federation, has ruled out the possibility of Spain withdrawing from the 2030 World Cup hosting duties, despite ongoing debate regarding the location of the tournament's final match.

The dispute centers on whether the final will be held in Spain or Morocco. Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has indicated that Morocco’s upcoming Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane, which is expected to have a capacity of approximately 115,000 spectators, is the intended venue for the final.

Lozano emphasized that the hosting arrangement is governed by formal agreements signed between FIFA, the host governments, and the respective football federations. He urged stakeholders to avoid emotional reactions and noted that the final decision rests solely with FIFA. While Spain maintains its readiness based on existing infrastructure and organizational experience, Morocco is positioning its massive new stadium project as a primary candidate for the championship match.
