Spain renews liaison judges for US, UK, and France
Spain's Ministry of Justice has formalized the renewal of its liaison judges in France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These appointments, published in the Official State Gazette, aim to consolidate direct channels for international judicial cooperation, including extraditions, mutual legal assistance, and the recognition of judicial decisions.
Iñigo Herrero Elejalde, a magistrate from Tenerife, has been designated as the liaison judge for the United States, with extended accreditation for Canada. Herrero brings extensive experience in international judicial cooperation and private international law.
The new appointments include two prosecutors and one magistrate. To maximize efficiency, two of the three appointees hold dual accreditation: the representative in the United Kingdom is also accredited for Ireland, and the representative in the United States is also accredited for Canada.
