Spain reports varying regional quality of life and hospital rankings

A new report from the National Statistics Institute (INE) indicates that Andalucía ranks among the Spanish autonomous communities with the lowest quality of life. With a global index score of 99.88, it falls below the national average of 101.74. While Andalucía performed best in the education category, it recorded its lowest scores in leisure and social relations. The report notes that Canarias, Ceuta, and Melilla sit in even lower positions, while Navarra, La Rioja, and the Basque Country report the highest quality of life.

In contrast, seven public hospitals in Madrid have been recognized in the Newsweek ‘World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2027’ ranking. The La Paz hospital rose to 24th place globally, leading the Spanish entries. Other hospitals in the top 100 include 12 de Octubre and Gregorio Marañón. The ranking highlights institutions that effectively utilize digital transformation, including artificial intelligence, robotics, and telemedicine, to improve patient diagnosis and management efficiency.
