Rising school costs in Spain drive demand for quick loans

The cost of returning to school for the 2026/2027 academic year is projected to be the highest on record in Spain. According to estimates from the Spanish Consumers Association (Asescon), minimum expenses per student are expected to reach 720 euros for public education, 790 euros for subsidized schools, and 1,880 euros for private institutions.

This financial pressure has led to an increase in the popularity of quick loans, or microcredits. These loans are characterized by small amounts, minimal requirements, and rapid disbursement via online or mobile platforms. Unlike traditional bank loans, they often do not require proof of income or collateral.

While these loans offer speed and flexibility, they carry significant risks. Experts note that they often involve very high interest rates and commissions, along with short repayment periods, which can lead to financial traps for those already in tight economic situations.
