Spain scheduled for seasonal clock change in October 2026

The seasonal clock change in Spain is scheduled for the early hours of Sunday, October 25, 2026, marking the transition to winter time. Clocks will be set back one hour, resulting in earlier sunrises and sunsets.

In the Canary Islands, the adjustment follows the official calendar established by the Spanish government via Order PCM/186/2022. While the European Commission proposed ending seasonal time changes in 2018, member states have not yet reached a definitive agreement to abolish the system.

In Melilla, residents have expressed a preference for summer time, citing the benefits of extended daylight in the afternoons for social and outdoor activities. The transition to winter time is noted for making the day feel shorter as darkness arrives earlier in the afternoon.
