Spain sees growth in accessible tourism profitability
Accessible tourism is becoming a key driver of profitability in Spain. According to the 2026 Trends Report by TUR4all Travel and Impulsa Igualdad, spending by international travelers with accessibility needs is growing by nearly 7%, which is more than double the rate of visitor arrivals.
This segment is transitioning from a niche market to a strategic vector for economic value and social sustainability. These travelers typically require verified information, have a higher average spend than the general tourist, and often travel with companions, which increases the economic impact per booking. The senior segment, aged 60 and over, accounts for approximately 35% of international accessible demand in Spain, helping to reduce seasonality.
In terms of market origins, the United Kingdom leads with an estimated 18% to 20% share of arrivals. Other significant markets include France (15%–17%), Germany (11%–13%), and the United States (10%–12%), with the latter recording the highest average daily spend.
