Spain tourism trends: cinematic travel and digital disconnection
Spanish tourism is experiencing several evolving trends. Cinematic tourism is becoming a major driver, with 40% of Spaniards willing to pay more to visit filming locations. Regions such as Asturias, Madrid, and Galicia are benefiting from this phenomenon as natural film sets for major productions.
Travel planning is also diversifying. While traditional destinations like the Riviera Maya and Mallorca remain popular, there is growing interest in alternative locations like Albania and Montenegro, as well as hybrid trips that combine culture with beach relaxation.
However, social and professional challenges persist. A study by CCOO highlights that over one-third of Andalusians cannot afford to travel outside their region. Additionally, digital disconnection remains a struggle; according to InfoJobs, only 46% of Spanish workers successfully disconnect from work matters after hours, leading to increased mental pressure and burnout.
