Spain storm damage exceeds 110 million euros
Recent torrential rains and the DANA Adam weather phenomenon have caused more than 110 million euros in damages across the Spanish Mediterranean coast, particularly affecting the Valencian Levante and Catalonia regions.
Local businesses and residents have reported significant destruction, including flooded homes and commercial establishments. In Els Poblets, Alicante, the overflowing Girona River left streets inundated with water and debris. Many affected individuals are now filing claims through the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros, a public body that covers extraordinary meteorological events in Spain.
Insurance activity has surged following the storms. For instance, the insurer Santa Lucía reported receiving over 7,300 claims for damages to homes, communities, and businesses this month, which represents a doubling of claims compared to the same period last year.
