Spain streaming sees record paid subscriptions and growth of female creators
In 2024, paid‑content subscriptions in Spain surpassed 34 million, of which more than 27 million were for streaming platforms. Nielsen’s The Gauge report noted that streaming now accounts for 48% of total television consumption in the country, overtaking traditional broadcast for the first time.
At the same time, female streamers and VTubers are expanding their influence across global platforms such as YouTube Live and Twitch. Spanish‑language creators like Rivers_ggy and Mayichi are building large, cross‑border audiences, while VTuber channels such as Miko Ch., Pekora Ch. and Emiru attract millions of view hours through virtual avatars, gaming, cosplay and lifestyle content. The combined effect reflects a structural shift toward interactive, community‑driven digital media, with young viewers seeking authenticity and brand collaborations driving further growth.
