Spain to host conferences on energy communities and maritime security
Two distinct academic and professional conferences are scheduled to take place in Spain, focusing on energy transition and maritime security.
In Seville, the III Energy Communities Summit will be held on September 30. Organized by the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) and the Andalusian Energy Agency under the REC4EU European project, the event aims to discuss regulation, financing, and professionalization. With 837 energy communities currently in Spain, the summit will analyze new regulatory measures, such as RD-Ley 7/2026, and explore diverse models involving municipalities, agricultural cooperatives, and industries.
Separately, an international congress titled ‘Security and Defense in the Strait of Gibraltar’ will take place from November 19 to 21. Organized by the UNED Associated Center in Campo de Gibraltar and the University of Seville, the event will bring together experts in international law, maritime security, migration, and NATO relations. The congress will address the geostrategic importance of the Strait, featuring contributions from military officials and academic specialists to analyze its role in European foreign policy and submarine warfare.
