Spain to launch first study on poaching impact and social perception

Fundación Artemisan and the Safari Club International Iberian Chapter have launched a multidisciplinary study in Spain to analyze the social perception and environmental damage caused by poaching. This initiative aims to address a lack of systematic data regarding the frequency, motivations, and consequences of poaching activities.

The project seeks to quantify the impact of illegal hunting on biodiversity, noting that poaching can lead to the illegal extraction of species, the alteration of animal populations, and threats to key breeding individuals. By providing empirical evidence, the organizers hope to facilitate the development of more effective prevention and control policies to protect wildlife and rural economies.
