Spain to lose 260 million euros in EU funds over legislative rejection
The Spanish government faces a loss of 260 million euros in European recovery funds following the parliamentary rejection of a lobbying regulation law. Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, stated that this specific regulation was a commitment made to the European Commission, and its failure to pass will result in the withholding of these community transfers.
This follows a previous instance in August where the European Commission blocked 537 million euros due to Spain failing to meet objectives regarding bilingual vocational training, telecare services, and projects for vulnerable groups. While 265 million euros were subsequently released for digitalization milestones, the current legislative setback adds to the financial consequences of the administration's inability to meet specific European Union requirements.
