Spain tourism shows rising visitor numbers in Ferrol amid higher package prices

Tourism activity in Spain has shown divergent trends in September. In Ferrol, tourism offices reported a 40.52% increase in visitors compared to the same month in 2025, with overnight stays rising by 47.56%. This growth was attributed to favorable weather conditions and an increased presence of pilgrims. Of the visitors assisted at the Plaza de España office, 73.72% were domestic travelers, with Galicia, Castilla y León, and Madrid being the primary regions of origin. International visitors accounted for 26.28%, with the United Kingdom representing the largest share of foreign tourists.

On a national level, data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) indicates that tour package prices in September reached their highest levels for this month in three years. Prices rose by 5.2% compared to September 2025 and have increased by 6.3% since 2024. While package prices dropped by 8.2% compared to August, the September increase represents the largest year-on-year rise recorded during the first nine months of the year.
