Spain tourism sector shows strong growth and investment dynamism

Spain's tourism sector is experiencing significant growth and evolving investment patterns. Data shows that up to August, international tourists spent nearly 100 billion euros, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. While accommodation spending saw a moderate recovery of 2.3%, there has been a notable surge in spending on dining and leisure, with restaurant expenditures rising by 15.1%.

Investment in the hospitality real estate sector remains dynamic, driven by strong tourist demand. While luxury hotels in Madrid remain a primary focus, there is increasing interest from family offices and other investors in mid-range hotels, independent establishments, and secondary destinations.

Travel patterns are also shifting toward de-seasonalization. Travelers are increasingly utilizing long weekends and public holidays for short trips, leading to higher demand during traditionally low seasons like October. In specific regions like Galicia, the rise in tourist housing is notable, with Cangas ranking as one of the municipalities with the highest density of tourist accommodations.
