Spain, US, and Mexico border regions prepare for 2026 time changes

Various regions are preparing for seasonal time adjustments in late 2026.

In Spain, the transition from daylight saving time to winter time will occur during the early hours of Sunday, October 25, 2026. In the Peninsula and Balearic Islands, clocks will be set back one hour from 03:00 to 02:00, while in the Canary Islands, the adjustment will move the time from 02:00 to 01:00. This change follows European Union regulations and aims to optimize electricity consumption.

In the United States, the time change will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2026. This affects New York and other regions, where clocks will be set back one hour at 02:00 to return to Eastern Standard Time. This also applies to the northern border municipalities of Mexico, such as Ciudad Juárez and Matamoros, which maintain the same schedule as the U.S. to facilitate cross-border commerce.

Most digital devices like smartphones and computers update automatically, but manual adjustments may be required for analog clocks and certain household appliances.
