Spain wins 11 medals at FISU World University Weightlifting Championship

The Spanish delegation has achieved significant success during the opening day of the FISU World University Weightlifting Championship in Doha, Qatar. The team secured a total of 11 medals in the initial session.

Marta García and Óscar Gómez led the performance, each earning six silver medals across the snatch, clean and jerk, and total Olympic categories. Additionally, Celia Reoyos and Salma Tahiri contributed five bronze medals to the team's tally.

In the -49 kg category, Marta García Rincón, representing the University of Salamanca's sports club, secured three silver medals. Her teammate, Celia Reoyos Villamor, also performed strongly, earning three bronze medals. This marks the return of weightlifting to the FISU university competition circuit for the first time since 2018.
