Spain and Italy win medals at Under‑23 World Rowing Championships in Duisburg

The World Under‑23 Rowing Championships took place in Duisburg, Germany, featuring more than 600 athletes from 48‑49 nations. The Spanish team earned three podium finishes – a silver and two bronzes – including Esther Fuerte's bronze in the women’s skiff and Emma Alimbau’s bronze in the coxless four, alongside Lidia Florido and Amanda Gil. Additional Spanish crews placed in B finals, with the double scull duo of Jordi Alexandrescu and Danilo Marques winning the B final.

Italy also secured two medals: Igor Zappa took silver in the PR3 single and the women’s four of Noemi De Vincenzi, Maria Lanciano, Aurora Spirito and Irene Gattiglia captured bronze. Italian crews recorded five fourth‑place finishes and numerous top‑ten results across various boat classes.

Overall, 19 countries appeared on the medal table, led by Greece, the United States and Great Britain. The championships marked a historic performance for both Spain and Italy in the under‑23 category.
