Spain wins rhythmic gymnastics World Championship gold

The Spanish national rhythmic gymnastics team, captained by Inés Bergua, won the gold medal in the general competition at the World Championships in Frankfurt. This victory marks Spain's first world title in this category in 35 years, following their previous win in 1991.

The team, consisting of Inés Bergua, Salma Solaun, Andrea Fernández, Marina Cortelles, Andrea Corral, and Lucía Muñoz, finished with 57.450 points. They secured the top spot after strong performances in the mixed routine of three hoops and two pairs of clubs, as well as the five balls exercise. Japan took the silver medal with 56.700 points, while Brazil earned the bronze with 55.500 points.

This championship win also guarantees direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, making rhythmic gymnastics the first Spanish sport to secure a spot for that edition.
