Spain's Los Gallos secure back-to-back win at Portsmouth SailGP

Spain's Los Gallos team won the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Portsmouth, achieving a second consecutive SailGP event victory after their June win in Halifax. The Spanish crew beat Sweden's Artemis, NorthStar Canada and Explora Journeys Swiss in a tightly contested four‑boat final, moving them nearer to Australia's Bonds Flying Roos at the top of the Rolex SailGP Championship standings.

The home team, Emirates GBR, finished 11th and expressed disappointment despite strong fan turnout, with about 20,000 spectators filling the Southsea Common grandstand. French team DS Automobiles secured two second‑place finishes in the fleet races, maintaining sixth place overall in the championship. The event was run under the league’s new split‑fleet qualifying format, dividing the 13 teams into two groups before the final race.

Overall, the results tighten the points race with Spain now second in the standings, while the split‑fleet format aims to improve racing quality and broadcast exposure for all teams.
