Spain women's basketball defeats Germany in World Cup warm-up
The Spanish women's national basketball team secured a 65-60 victory against Germany in their first friendly match preparing for the upcoming World Cup in Berlin. The game, held at the MHPA Arena in Ludwigsburg, served as a crucial warm-up for the squad, which will face Germany again in their opening World Cup match on September 4.
Iyana Martín led the Spanish offense with 19 points and 4 assists. The match also featured the debut of Sevilla-born center Marta García. Despite a slow start where Germany led 6-1, Spain recovered to take a 27-29 lead by halftime. The contest remained closely contested until the final minutes, where Spain secured the win through free throws.
