Spain‑Portugal launch Atidrai Agro research alliance with €11 million EU funding

The Andalusian Institute for Agrarian Research (IFAPA) opened the Atidrai Agro project in Seville, a three‑year, €11 million trans‑border research programme co‑financed by the EU. Coordinated by IFAPA and part of the Interreg Spain‑Portugal cooperation scheme, the initiative brings together Spanish institutions such as CSIC‑INIA, Agacal, Itacyl and Cicytex with Portuguese partners IPB, the University of Évora, IPCB and Iniav. Its aims are to build knowledge networks, advance genetics, plant health and sustainable food products, and to promote digitalisation and competitiveness of SMEs in the border regions.

The consortium will carry out joint experiments, feasibility studies and technology transfers across public research centres, universities and competence centres, seeking to create a lasting ecosystem of innovation for the agro‑food sector of both countries.
