Spain's 2025 Cybersecurity Report Highlights Ransomware as Leading Threat

The Yarix 2025 cybersecurity report, produced by Var Group's Yarix brand, analyzed roughly 1,000 real incidents across Spain. It found ransomware and data‑leak incidents to be the dominant threats to organizations, with DDoS attacks and initial‑access agents also featuring among the most relevant risks. Strategic sectors such as finance, energy, transport and public administrations were identified as the most impacted.

Juanjo Pérez Mostajo, Cybersecurity Area Head at Var Group Iberia, said the report shows that “attacks are not only more frequent, but also more structured and persistent,” urging a shift from reactive defenses to early‑detection, automation and continuous response, including automated Security Operations Centers capable of correlating events and reducing response times.
