Spain's 2025 Labor Cost per Worker Rises to €38,511 Net

Spain’s 2025 Annual Labour Cost Survey shows the average gross annual salary per worker reached €28,410.78, a 3.1% rise from 2024 and the highest level since the series began in 2008. After subtracting public subsidies and deductions, the net labour cost per worker was €38,511.76, up 3.2% year‑on‑year. Salaries and wages accounted for about 73% of total labour cost, while compulsory Social Security contributions made up roughly 24%.

Regionally, the highest total labour costs were recorded in the Community of Madrid (€45,983.31), the Basque Country (€44,034.00) and Navarre (€41,697.31). The lowest per‑worker costs were observed in Extremadura and the Canary Islands. In the energy supply sector, total costs peaked at €86,047.88 per worker, while the hospitality sector recorded the lowest at €23,690.02.

In Galicia, the gross annual salary per worker was €25,164.39, a 2% increase, slightly below the national average. The region’s net labour cost stood at €34,477.21, up 2.5%, with non‑salary costs rising 3.8%. These figures mirror the national trend of rising wages and social‑security contributions.
